Privacy Policy
The short version: the only information this website collects is what you type into one of our two forms. If you submit a perk and choose to leave a name for credit, that name is the one thing that can end up published on the site, and it does not have to be your real name. All other data submitted to the forms stays with us. We don't sell anything, and we don't set cookies.

Who this is from
Air Force Perks ("we" or "us") runs airforceperks.com, a library of discounts and benefits available to Airmen and their families.
We are an independent website. We are not part of the U.S. Air Force or the Department of Defense, we are not endorsed by them, and nothing you send us is passed to them. Because this is a private site rather than a government one, the privacy rules written for .gov and .mil systems do not apply here. This policy is what applies, and it covers airforceperks.com and nothing else.
What we collect
We collect what you type into one of our two forms, plus anonymous visit counts. There is no account to create, nothing to log into, and neither form collects anything in the background. We receive only what you type.
The form on our contact page asks for:
Your name (required)
Your email address (required)
Whatever you write in the message box (required)
The form on our submit a perk page asks for:
The perk itself: title, description, how to claim it, a link we can use to verify it, and any categories you pick. The title, description, and verification link are required.
A name to credit, if you want credit (optional, and this one can be published; see below)
A way to reach you if we have questions about the perk (optional)
Anything else you want to tell us (optional)
What can end up on the public site
The perk submission form feeds the public library.
The perk details are meant to be published. If the perk checks out, we write it up and add it to the library. We usually edit for length, clarity, and accuracy rather than posting your text word for word.
The credit name is published if you fill it in. It appears on the perk page as "Submitted by," usually exactly as you typed it. It does not have to be your real name. A first name, initials, a call sign, a unit, or anything else you are comfortable with all work. Leave the field blank and no name is listed at all, which is the default.
The "anything else" box may be published in part. If that field contains something useful, like an eligibility catch or a warning about how the discount works, we may work it into the published perk. We never publish contact details out of that box. Keep anything you would not want public out of it.
Your contact details are NEVER published. The submitter contact field and everything in the contact form stay with us and are used only to reply to you.
Once a credit name is public
A published credit name is public: search engines index perk pages, and other sites, caches, and web archives can copy them. Ask us and we will change or remove a credit from the site, but we cannot reach into someone else's archive and pull it back.
What not to send us
This is a public website, not a secure government system. Do not send us:
Social Security numbers, DoD ID or CAC numbers, or dates of birth
Anything operationally sensitive, such as unit movements, deployment dates, or schedules
Copies of orders or other documents. We never need them. A link that describes the benefit is enough.
If you write to us from a government device or a .mil address, that system belongs to your employer, and we have no say over how it is monitored or retained on that end.
Why we collect it
Contact form messages are used to answer you. Perk submissions are used to confirm the benefit with the provider, write it up for the library, and follow up with you if something needs clarifying. That is the entire purpose.
We do not sell your information. We do not rent, trade, or share it with anyone for their own use. We do not send marketing emails, and we will not add you to a mailing list unless you specifically request it.
Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to see how many people visit the site and which pages and perks they read. Plausible does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not follow anyone across other websites. What we see is aggregated counts, such as how many people opened the travel perks last week. We cannot identify you from it.
Cookies, and what your browser remembers
This website does not set any cookies. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to agree to.
Your own browser does remember two small things:
Whether you switched the site to dark mode, so it looks the same on your next visit
Your last perks search and filters, so the back button returns you to the results you were looking at. This one is cleared when you close the tab.
Both are stored on your device, neither is a cookie, and neither is ever sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Who else handles it
Form submissions pass through our web hosting provider and are stored in their system before reaching us. Like any web host, they keep standard server logs that include visitor IP addresses, used to keep the site running and secure.
There are no other parties involved in this website. This site runs no advertising networks, no tracking pixels, no embedded maps, no social media widgets, and no comment system.
Links to perk providers
Every perk links out to an external site, generally the company or agency offering it. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's website, under their privacy policy, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information. We are not told who clicked, and we do not use affiliate or referral links.
How long we keep it
We keep contact messages for as long as we need to answer you and for a reasonable period after that, in case you get back in touch. We generally clear out messages older than two years.
We keep perk submissions for as long as the perk is listed, since the source link and your notes are what we re-check when we verify a perk again later. Submissions we decide not to publish are cleared out periodically.
Asking us to change or delete it
Send us a note through the contact form and tell us roughly what you sent and when. We will tell you what we have, correct it, delete it, or change or remove a published credit name. You do not need to give a reason.
If you would rather not send us anything through the website at all, don't use the forms. The whole library is free to browse without submitting a thing.
Children
This site is meant for adults: service members, veterans, and their families. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and we ask that you not put a child's name in the credit field. If you believe a child has sent us something through a form, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how this site handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
