Stretch your Post-9/11 GI Bill to cover out-of-state and private tuition.
When your Post-9/11 GI Bill tuition cap doesn’t fully cover your school’s sticker price, like at private universities or out-of-state public schools, the Yellow Ribbon program steps in. Participating institutions voluntarily “match” VA dollar-for-dollar contributions toward the remainder of your tuition and fees, up to an annual cap set by the school. The VA then picks up any matching amounts (no more than the school’s maximum) so you may owe nothing out-of-pocket for tuition or covered mandatory fees. Basically, your GI Bill benefit, plus the school and VA’s Yellow Ribbon match, all work together to eliminate school costs.
